About this Site
Tycho Crater is a Phase 1 Artemis site where NASA's CLPS (Commercial Lunar Payload Services) deliveries have deployed seismic arrays, spectrometers, and Optimus Explorers for geological research. At 85 km wide with ejecta rays stretching hundreds of miles, Tycho serves as a primary testbed for the LTV (Lunar Terrain Vehicle) program — validating rover mobility, power generation via radioisotope thermoelectric generators, and surface navigation systems. Three permanent Explorer charging stations ring the crater rim, and the central peak has been mapped to 10-centimeter resolution.
