About this Site

The Peaks of Eternal Light are the centerpiece of Phase 2 Artemis infrastructure. Near the Moon's south pole, these mountain ridges receive ~90% constant sunlight , unlimited solar power for permanent operations. Just kilometers away, Shackleton's permanently shadowed craters hold water ice. This combination makes the peaks the inevitable location for the Artemis South Pole Station. Phase 2 operations here include JAXA's pressurized rover conducting extended geological surveys, prototype radioisotope thermoelectric generators powering instruments through the brief shadow periods, and international partner payloads from ESA and CSA testing communications and navigation systems. Earth-based structural engineers, power systems designers, and logistics planners are essential , they analyze foundation survey data, design solar array configurations, and plan the supply chain for Phase 3 construction.

Artemis Station Foundation Survey , Grid 12

Medium

4 hours · 15 applicants this week

The Artemis South Pole Station needs solid foundations. Grid 12 is a 200m × 200m section where the habitat modules will be placed. Drive Foundation Mapper in a precise 5-meter-spaced grid pattern, taking ground-penetrating radar readings at each intersection point. The data will determine if the regolith can support a 50-ton habitat module. This is critical infrastructure work , every reading matters.

$220

you earn

Requirements

  • →5-meter grid accuracy
  • →Radar reading at each intersection
  • →~1,600 data points total

Deliverables

  • ✓Subsurface density map
  • ✓Foundation suitability assessment
  • ✓Anomaly report

Solar Panel Test Array , Daily Check-in

Easy

7 days (3.5 hrs total) · 28 applicants this week

A prototype solar panel array has been deployed on the peaks. Check in once daily (takes ~30 minutes) to photograph the panels, read the power output display, and use the Explorer's brush attachment to clean any dust accumulation. Track power output over time. This is a recurring job , do it for 7 days and get the full payout. Simple, reliable work.

Solar Array Configuration Designer

HardWork from Earth

15 hours (2-week window) · 6 applicants this week

The Peaks of Eternal Light will power all of Phase 2 and Phase 3 lunar operations. But 'near-constant sunlight' isn't the same as 'always sunlight' , brief shadow periods from nearby ridge features can cause critical power gaps. Earth-based solar engineers use Explorer survey data (terrain elevation maps, shadow tracking data, regolith stability readings) to design panel layouts that maximize power generation and minimize vulnerability to shadow events. You'll use solar simulation software to model panel angles, spacing, and wiring configurations. The robots install what you design , but if the design is wrong, the entire south pole operation loses power.

$450

you earn

Requirements

  • →Solar engineering or electrical engineering background
  • →Solar simulation software experience
  • →Terrain analysis capability

Deliverables

  • ✓Panel layout schematics
  • ✓Shadow vulnerability analysis
  • ✓Annual power generation estimate
  • ✓Installation sequence for robots

RTG Performance Monitor , Radioisotope Power Systems

HardWork from Earth

8 hours/week (recurring) · 4 applicants this week

During the brief shadow periods when solar panels can't generate power, radioisotope thermoelectric generators (RTGs) and radioisotope heater units (RHUs) keep critical systems alive. Earth-based engineers monitor these prototype power systems in real time, analyzing thermal output, electrical conversion efficiency, and degradation rates. You'll review telemetry data streaming from the deployed RTGs, compare against predicted performance models, and flag any anomalies that could indicate system degradation. This data informs the design of production RTGs for Phase 3 permanent infrastructure. Nuclear engineering or power systems background required.

The mountain ridges near the south pole have natural slopes of 15-30 degrees , perfect ski terrain. Your Explorer is equipped with wide regolith skis designed to glide on the fine lunar dust. Push off from the top of a ridge and carve turns down the slope. In 1/6th gravity, you float between turns, catching air off every bump. The dust behaves like the lightest, driest powder snow imaginable , except there's no cold wind, no goggles needed, and Earth hangs in the sky above the slope. Three runs on different slope gradients: Bunny Hill (15°), Intermediate (22°), and Black Diamond (30°). Speed tracked on each run. The dust rooster tails behind you are spectacular on camera.

A shot put that travels 23 meters on Earth sails over 130 meters here. The hammer throw is even more spectacular , the Explorer spins with the hammer, building centrifugal force, then releases at the perfect angle. The hammer arcs across the sky for 30+ seconds before landing hundreds of meters downslope. 6 attempts at each event. The slow-motion footage of the throws against the stars is mesmerizing.
