About this Site

Clavius is one of the oldest and largest craters on the Moon , 225 km across and nearly 4 billion years old. Inside it lies a striking pattern of progressively smaller craters forming a curved chain across the floor, each one younger than the last. Walking here is like walking through a timeline of the solar system's bombardment history. Made famous by the film '2001: A Space Odyssey' as the site of a lunar base, Clavius is now, fittingly, being evaluated as an actual future base location due to its flat floor and proximity to south pole resources.

Crater Chain Photography

Medium

4 hours · 8 applicants this week

Clavius contains a textbook example of crater chronology , a curved chain of 5 craters, each progressively smaller and younger than the last (Rutherfurd, Clavius D, Clavius C, Clavius N, Clavius J). Drive to each one and capture a standardized set of images: overview, rim detail, floor detail, and size reference. Scientists use these images to teach crater aging, so consistency is key.

$160

you earn

Requirements

  • →Visit all 5 chain craters
  • →4 standardized photos per crater
  • →Travel ~40 km total

Deliverables

  • ✓20 standardized crater images
  • ✓Size comparison data
  • ✓Driving route log

Lesson Plan Creator , Lunar Science Curriculum

MediumWork from Earth

8 hours · 56 applicants this week

Clavius Crater is one of the most popular sites for school field trips, but teachers tell us they want ready-made lesson plans to go with the experience. Create lesson plans for three age groups (8-10, 11-13, 14-16) that cover crater formation, lunar geology, and the history of lunar exploration , tied to specific stops on the Clavius tour. Each plan should include pre-visit activities, discussion questions for during the tour, and follow-up assignments. Make them fun and hands-on where possible ('build a crater in a flour tray'). Robots can drive the tours, but they can't design education. Teachers and curriculum designers especially welcome.

$180

you earn

Requirements

  • →Teaching or curriculum design experience preferred
  • →3 lesson plans (one per age group)
  • →Include printable worksheets

Deliverables

  • ✓3 complete lesson plans
  • ✓Printable student worksheets

Birthday Party Planner & Host , Lunar Celebrations

EasyWork from Earth

2 hours (including prep) · 167 applicants this week

Work with the customer beforehand to choose a theme, plan the 'route' (scenic spots for photos, a spot for the cake moment, etc.), and coordinate timing. On party day, you host the livestream: welcome the guests watching from Earth, direct the robot to the right spots, narrate the experience, lead a countdown, and make sure the birthday person feels special. This is event planning meets live hosting. You need to be organized, high-energy, and comfortable performing live for groups of 10-50 remote guests. Recurring opportunity , 2-4 parties per week.

2 hours · 345 bookings this week

In Stanley Kubrick's 1968 masterpiece '2001: A Space Odyssey,' Clavius Crater is home to a massive lunar base. Now you can tour the real thing. Your Explorer visits the locations that most closely match the film's vision , the wide flat floor where the base would have been, the rim viewpoints Kubrick imagined, and the spot where the monolith was excavated in the story. An audio guide compares film scenes to reality. Life really is imitating art , Clavius is genuinely being evaluated as a future base site. See where science fiction is becoming science fact.

The teacher can guide the experience or let the students explore freely. A lunar scientist joins via audio to answer questions. Students receive certificates and their photos. Over 2,000 classrooms have done this , students consistently call it the best day of the school year.

Lunar Tennis , Crater Court

Medium

1 hour · 234 bookings this week

A regulation-sized tennis court has been marked on the flat floor of Clavius Crater, complete with a net and an AI opponent robot. The physics are wildly different from Earth: serves float in slow motion, lobs soar 100+ meters into the black sky before drifting back down, and topspin barely matters without air. Ground strokes bounce much higher off the packed regolith. The result is a beautiful, surreal version of tennis where every rally looks like a slow-motion ballet. The AI opponent adapts to your skill level. Sets of 6 games. The ball against the black sky with Earth in the background makes for incredible footage.

Lunar Biathlon , Drive & Shoot

Medium

1.5 hours · 167 bookings this week

Inspired by the Olympic biathlon, this lunar version combines high-speed Explorer driving with precision target shooting. Race your Explorer 10 km across the flat crater floor, stopping at 4 shooting stations along the way. At each station, steady the Explorer and use the precision laser to hit 5 small targets 50 meters away. Missed targets add 30-second penalties. The challenge: your heart (well, your Explorer) is racing from the drive, making it harder to aim precisely. In lunar gravity, the Explorer bounces more on rough terrain, adding to the driving challenge. Total time (driving + penalties) determines your ranking. A surprisingly tactical event , do you drive fast and risk shaky aim, or pace yourself for cleaner shots?

$55

per person

What's Included

  • →10 km course with 4 shooting stations
  • →5 targets per station
  • →30s penalty per miss

What You Get

  • ✓Full race video
  • ✓Drive time + shooting accuracy breakdown
  • ✓Leaderboard ranking
